{"id":502,"date":"2003-10-14T23:11:46","date_gmt":"2003-10-15T04:11:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ashleyit.com\/blogs\/brentashley\/?p=502"},"modified":"2003-10-14T23:11:46","modified_gmt":"2003-10-15T04:11:46","slug":"grassroots-media","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ashleyit.com\/blogs\/brentashley\/2003\/10\/14\/grassroots-media\/","title":{"rendered":"Grassroots media"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As part of researching for our <a href=\"http:\/\/www.simplefilter.com\">SimpleFilter<\/a> marketing strategy, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kosmo.com\/blogs\/timsblog\">Tim<\/a> and I attended a talk tonight presented by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.torontotalks.org\/page\/page.asp?home=1\">Toronto Talks<\/a> entitled &#8220;The Role Of Media And Your Company&#8221; with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.editorialedge.com\/\">Larry Jackson<\/a>, a local media consultant and accomplished news and media talent of some considerable experience. <\/p>\n<p>My contribution was a question (or I suppose more of an observation) near the end of the talk on how non-traditional media and community (online and otherwise) can be used as part of a diversified marketing strategy to increase your profile perhaps even to the extent that you are more attractive to the mainstream media.<\/p>\n<p>Interestingly enough, after the talk, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.planetcast.com\/williamstratas-biography.shtml\">William Stratas<\/a> came over to say hello, which to me underlined my point nicely.
